Hi

Does anyone know if there is a supplement with all the vitamins that compliment Vitamin D.

I keep reading it is best to take magnesium and K2 with Vitamin D also possibly zinc and boron.

Is there one supplement that supplies all.

Many thanks browny

They are all important. You can buy VitD Sprays that also contain K2....

I take a liquid vit d2 which has raised my levels brilliantly. It's best to take vit d2 in liquid or spray form. I also take a v good multi vit by Viridean. It's for over 65s ( I'm 50) but it's the only decent one I can find that doesn't contain iodine. I take extra magnesium at night. I often take a b12 sublingual supp if I feel I need it and I take Opti ferin C by Pure Encalsulations to keep my ferritin in range. Multi vits containing Iron just don't seem to be as effective. Its a pain but worth it!

I thought it was D3 that we should supplement not D2. Been trying the Viridean but not keen on the capsule form. There seems to be a conflict of views on iodine in multivitamins. One medically qualified seller said excess would be excreted ,but he would say that!

Yeah, well, take it from me, it doesn't!

The problem with mult-vits is that they Don't contain enough of anything to be of any use. If you have deficiencies they should be treated individually.

Yes D3 is the best one, I agree there is conflicting advice re iodine.

Just had a look at that, and I Don't think it's Worth the money.

a) It has vit C as calcium ascorbate. That means you get calcium. You Don't want calcium Willy nilly. Excess calcium isn't good. Calcium suppléments are not good even if you're low in calcium.

b) It's B12 is cyanocobalamine. That's not easily absorbed. You need methylcobalamine. And 100 ug is not going to do very much of anything.

c) It contains folic acid. That could potentially cause problems in some people. Methylfolate is more easily absorbed.

d) It contains D2, should be D3.

c) Doesn't say which vit K it contains. 1 and 2 are different, do different things.

d) Most of the quantities are too small to do anything.

Each time it uses the cheapest form of the vitamin, which is why I say it's not Worth the price they're asking. For that price I would expect methylcobalamin, methylfolate and vit D3.

Oh no!!! I thought Viridean were a good company. I'm sick of forking out for supplements that end up not being any good and because I want to avoid iodine it seems impossible to find a good multi vit. My issues at the moment are menopause related so I'm keen to find a good multi. I do take b12 seperately as a solgar sublingual b12 methlycobalamin so have that covered. I take magnesuium powder which is meant to be very bio available (lifestream) and a d3 liquid 4000 iu per two drops which I got from wholefoods. I had been taken 1 g of folic acid as is meant to be good for hot flushes. I've stopped that now. What is the issue with folic acid? I also take biocare multi b. Any advice gratefully received! Ive started serenity natural prog cream which seems to be helping.

I've posted a couple of times about folic acid. You'll find the articles on my profile, scroll down my posts and you'll see them.

I'm afraid I can't advise you on the menopause because I didn't even notice mine. And I can't advise you on a multi-vitamin because I Don't take one. I take all my vits and mins seperately in the appropriate doses. It's a pain, but oh so Worth it! But if you're going for a multi-vitamin, it's best to avoid the things I mentioned above.

Regarding Folic Acid - Type Methylfolate v Folic Acid into Google and have a read. Folic Acid or B9 is synthetic - Folate is naturally occurring....

I use Dr Myhill's multi minerals with additional vitc to help the absorption - they are water soluble and taste bad but I couldn't exist w.out them. Hope this helps :-)

There's a Life Extension one - Bone Restore or something similar (there's a couple of similarly named ones so you have to check ingredients) that has most of it in, but also some calcium

The first has vit c containing calcium ,the second sells viridian amongst other products. Nothing is easy. Mind you chemicals combine and can as a result not be harmful. Remember sodium in the chemical lab? Then we have sodium chloride better known as table salt.
