Head feels like its going to float away

Hi everyone. I recently found out i have underactive thyroid. I found out after my baby was still born in January. My tsh level was at 7.5 in january and now at 2.8. I started on levothyroxine just over a week ago and i feel terrible. I have felt tired and has a lack of energy for months but since starting these tables, i feel more tired. Im struggling to sleep and i feel drained. Also my head dont feel right. It feels like ive been sucking on a helium cylinder and it wants to float away. Is any of this normal? I havnt been told anything about this problem so im clueless.

It's quite normal to feel like that and things will improve now you are taking Levothyroxine. Unfortunately, it isn't an instant fix and it may take several months to become optimally dosed before your symptoms completely resolve although you should notice gradual improvement over the next few weeks.

It takes 7-8 days for Levothyroxine to be absorbed before it can start working and up to 6 weeks to feel the full impact of the starting dose.

Take Levothyoxine with water on an empty stomach one hour before, or two hours after, food and drink, 2 hours away from other medication and supplements and 4 hours away from iron, vitamin D, calcium and oestrogen.

You should have a thyroid blood test 6-8 weeks after starting Levothyroxine and after any dose adjustment to check levels. Dose adjustments are usually in 25mcg increments. Leave 24 hours between last dose and blood draw to avoid skewing results.

Welcome to the forum and so sorry to hear what has happened. Good starting advice from Clutter. Post your next lot of bloods and ask if you can also have FT4 and FT3 tested as well. They may say know but they give a better picture of what is really happening inside your body. Always put the ranges as well as they differ from lab to lab. Hope you soon start to feel better.
