Thank you Helenback

That's very useful to know and I hadn't heard of it previously either.

Also never heard of the "free" issue!

Looking a bit further I found this NHS link (England):

nhs.uk/Livewell/Pharmacy/Pa...

Which links to this page to find a pharmacy (or, in fact, any other service):

nhs.uk/Service-Search

Thanks for pointing this out, Helenback

News to me too. They've kept that minor gem very quiet!

I just heard about it yesterday! I could have done with knowing this when my kids were younger, lol.

I followed the links through the Nhs so I could find a community chemist, and it said your doc can give you a prescription for a year, which you can leave with the chemist and collect when needed. My doc makes me collect a script every 2 months. Hmm... Will try the minor ailments thing next week when I get along to the chemist. Have been paying out for antihistamines for years.

Yes I've been paying for own antihistamines for years too. When I asked my GP he told me they don't prescribe as they can be bought OTC. No pharmacy has ever given the slightest hint that we might get them free. Buying the generic own brands saves a fortune though, (supermarket pharmacies are often cheapest) so it's not as costly as it could be :)

Unfortunately I get along best with acrivastine, not cetirazine or loratadeine. There's not a generic version of acrivastine... So it costs more.

My whole body seems to have champagne taste as the more expensive meds seem to treat my ailments quite well... But alas! I have only lemonade money. :-)

Champagne? Lemonade? Nope, they will both raise your blood sugar... stick with water ;)

There's something about this that has been doing the rounds on Facebook recently, but I can't post pictures in a reply, so I will do a seperate post.

Yes so many people seem to know now, it will not be long before it is all shut down by the Tories !
