My partner has a TSH of 0.82, but has hypo symptoms.

Hello, my partner is at least 3 stones overweight, has incredibly dry skin, he's always complaing of being tired, he completely lost his sex drive, and when I took his temperature it's always no more than 36.1

He saw the vile GP I complained about, who spent most of the time complaining how much the test would cost the NHS, £20 apparently, and 36.1 is a normal temperature! My partner has seen a GP once in the 9 years we have been together and pays a shed load of NI. I was absolutely furious when he got back

Other test results:-

ESR 25 (0-12)

Total white cell count 9.4 (3.8-11)

Red blood cel 5.09 (4.6-6.2)

Haemoglobin estimation 150 (130-180)

Packed cell volume 45.3 (42.52)

Mean corpuscular volume 89 (82-102)

Red blood cell dist 13.2%

Platelet count 303 (150-500)

Neutrophil count 7 (2.0-8.0)

Lymphocyte count 1.2 (1-4)

Monocyte .9 (.1-.9)

Eosinophil count 0.2 (0.1-0.7)

Basophil count 0.1 (0.0-0.1

And TSH 0.82 (0.35-5.5)

I wrote him the list that should be tested, and the doctor ignored it, great.

Any comments welcome!

Thanks. X

The doctor should have done a full thyroid panel plus antibodies. If GP wasn't willing (obviously not) if you can afford a private blood test this is a link. Labs don't do further tests if TSH is 'normal'.

I know Blue Horizon does pin-prick tests and am not sure if others do.

If you look on the left-hand side there are more topics, i.e. list of symptoms etc. and you can get a list of private-doctors from louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk

Hi Shaws thanks for your response. Apologies for the late reply.

My partner's mother had thyroid cancer so I know a full thyroid panel is the way to go, thanks for the links.

Not aware any of them have pin prick tests, I think we would need one of the more complex tests. It took me months to get him to go to the doctor, now I will have to keep on at him to get a private test done!

I think his iron may not be optimal, so at the moment he's sharing my prescribed iron, and he's bought some B12 sublinguals which is a start I guess!
