Unipharma T3 - lactose !

Is anyone using this Brand who has a Lactose or Gluten Intolerance ? Does

anyone know how much Lactose is listed in ingredients (sometimes it's possible

to make out from leaflet even if in foreign language). And does anyone

know if it does contain Gluten. I've searched the internet & can't find

inactive ingredients ! Any advice please, Thanks

  • QUE6T-33, I've never seen the amount of Lactose or other excipients declared in any medication. They usually just list them as part of the inactive ingredients. Lactose intolerant patients have been told by their GPs that "only trace amounts of lactose are present in UK medicines which contain lactose".

    Courtesy of Epictetus:

    UNI-PHARMA T3 ingredients:

    Active ingredient: Liothyronine sodium

    a) Lactose (lactose monohydrate, gelatine, starch maize),

    b) sodium starch glycolate, magnesium stearate,

    c) silicified talc (purified talc, colloidal silicon dioxide),

    d) egg yellow lake art 74675 (25mcg), and

    d) yellow lake No 6E110 (50mcg).

The above ingredients are taken from a leaflet enclosed with a box of Uni-Pharma T3 (manufactured 10.2014, it seems from "LOT 14 10"). Although the leaflet is largely in Greek, at point 1.2 of it, the English translation of the ingredients is helpfully given.

  • Yes - thanks for link, had already seen it, really useful. Timorel

has listed 60mg Lactose (wouldn't say that's a trace amount).

So hoping that Unipharma may list amount Lactose too.

As for UK T3, not for me.

  • QUE6T-33, UK GPs would have been referring to UK medicines, not Tiromel.

  • Yes, of course. But I'm not.
