Welcome to the forum, Lorna123.

Pruritis (itching) and rash are common side effects of Carbimazole and often clear of their own accord. Take an antihistamine an hour before your Carbimazole dose and see whether that relieves the itching and use an unperfumed soothing lotion on the rash. If either pruritis or rash persist see your doctor and discuss the alternative anti-thyroid drug Propylthiouracil (PTU). PTU is less favoured than Carbimazole as it can affect liver enzymes.

HI It could be eczema which is not always obvious , ask the GP.MY eczema drives me crazy, it is fairly common with thyroid disease.

Hi Lorna I go along with Clutter's opinion - when I first started on Carbimazole I had a very bad skin reaction - covered in Hives plus very sore throat! Doc gave me heavy duty antihistamines and it cleared up relatively quickly. The side effects should settle as your body becomes accustomed to the drug. Good luck
