5-HTP 100g

Hi, I take 100g Levothyroxine a day. Does anyone know if its safe to take 5-HTP 100g with levothyroxine? (I have read St.John's wort is not a good supplement to take alongside levo)

I don't know if its safe, but I do it. I've taken 5-HTP with levo, with NDT and with T3 only. I only take 50mg per day. But one anecdotal report cannot be taken as proof that its safe.

Anti-depressants must never be mixed, by the way, and that is true whether they are over-the-counter or prescribed.

I found this, about St John's Wort and levothyroxine, which I found interesting :

Apparently St John's Wort can speed up clearance of thyroxine from the body, and people end up with a higher TSH level as a result (if I've understood the blurb in that link correctly).

One person mentions that the Holland & Barrett brand worked for her, and that is the one that I use, but only one a day.

But several people say it did nothing for them.
