I had total thyroidetomy in 2008. Several years ago I am hypothyroid until recently my test result indicate euthyroid. Yet my blood pressure has been consistently high. 180/100. What do you advise I do. My GP is without any clue?

If your pulse is also fast, you are probably undermedicated and everything is high because of noradrenaline. tiredthyroid.com/blog/2014/...

You need full replacement consisting of both T4 and T3.

Buy a BP monitor and test your BP at home, have your arm level with your heart when you take it. I always had consistently high BP for the past 3 years. Admittedly there were some family issues I was dealing with...... but once resolved I wanted to check I still had a BP problem. It turned out my BP is perfectly normal at home - now off BP meds. When I go to the GP etc....... it rises. Guess I'm always looking for a fight........... white coat syndrome. May be the same for you?........

I agree. The best ever readings I had were when I took part in a survey and had everything you could imagine measured.

I sat in a big comfortable chair. Had my arm measured for the correct sized cuff. Was told the nurse was not going to speak to me. The machine reminded the nurse to take another reading at five minute intervals, then worked out an average - which was wonderfully low, the best reading I think I have ever had - even better than when I take mine at home. Think it was a combination between being really relaxed (I spite of the 20 page questionnaire and all the blood that was going to be taken) I think the secret must have been waiting for full five minutes between each reading - I never waited that long when I did it myself - my home readings were much better than when taken by a doctor / nurse though - but nothing like the results from the survey.
