Thyroid UK info

Hello - Just wanted to know how we get some of the great info on the forums on to the Thyroid UK leaflets and website? I'm guessing a lot of people that get the pack or just read the website don't end up on the forum.

Can we collectively put some info together to update it? or can it only come from doctors?

For example the vitamin D info for example is a bit sparse, just one sentence!

Vitamin D

It has been found that when people with an overactive thyroid take this vitamin, it counteracts the usual rapid excretion of calcium, and osteoporosis can be avoided.

For me, taking vitamin D had a "Lazarus effect" as my Endo put it yesterday, getting rid of my brain fog, dizziness and anxiety - I put up with it for months before finding out.

The information on the website and in the leaflets is constantly under review and development.

Unfortunately, Thyroid UK has only one full time and two part time members of staff and very limited time and funds.

We do the best we can.

Thank you - I know that you are all working as hard as you can - I just want you to know you have an army of volunteers here to help pass on the best information we have.

I'm quite happy to help out a few hours a week when I can, it's the least I can do!

Hi

Passing on the information is great! :) Unfortunately, there are a lot of processes in place and hoops we have to jump through to get the information from that stage to 'publication'.

We are always grateful for offers of help however.

Please feel free to drop an email to enquiries@thyroiduk.org with details of your particular skillset! :)

Louise
