Has anybody else tried Blood Pressure tablets? I have been prescribed each different type and cannot tolerate any of them! I am on T3 only and wonder if this has anything to do with my thyroid?

I have been on anti hypertensives for years now and have no problems. I have changed tablets a couple of times until I've found the right type for me but have been on this one for about 2 years and they are fine. Clemmie

I've been taking Zestril (lisinopril) for years now, no problems but some people get the 'lisinopril cough'. Also take Diltiazem, no problems with that either. I took them when I was taking Carbmazole and levo for my block and replace.

I was originally on Lisinopril but got the cough so was eventually changed to Olmetec Plus which has been absolutely side effect free for me. Clemmie

Everyone's different.

I did not get-on with ACE Inhibitors and Beta Blockers, both of which made me feel oppressed/depressed, but I have been OK on Calcium Channel Blockers.

High blood pressure is certainly linked to hypo. Some people get low blood pressure, some high. And if it is the hypo that is causing your high blood pressure, none of the tablets will work. Perhpas your thyroid isn't optimally treated. Do you have any blood test results to share with us?

Hi Greygoose

My latest test in Jan 2015 were TSH 2.2 T4 less than 5 and T3 4.23! I asked Doc if I should increase my T3( I am on T3 only) and he said no! I requested trip to Endo and am going on 18 March. Meanwhile Calcium Channel Blockers are making me feel dreadful. Thank you for replying x

Yes, the calcium channel blockers would make you feel dreadful. Part of that could be because they are lowering your levels of magnesium. Try taking some magnesium and see if things improve.

You do need an increase because that TSH is too high. When someone is on thyroid hormone replacement (T3 in your case) the TSH should be around one, or below - or even suppressed. Usually suppressed with T3.

Without the range it's difficult to say with any certainty, but I'm guessing your FT3 is too low. Can you not increase your dose yourself?

TSH range is 3.5-6.5 and yes I have increased from 50 mcg daily to 55 mcg daily. I will try some Magnesium. Thank you x

I think you mean the FT3 range. In which case it's way too low. Most people need it up near the top of the range to feel well - or even slightly over. An extra 5 mcg isn't going to to very much, I Don't think. But if you could increase again after two weeks?

Sorry I did mean FT3. I will increase again very soon. Is it okay to be over range?x

A little, as long as you Don't have hyper symptoms or feel over-stimulated. :)
