Thyroid 'S' - am I being paranoid???....

.... the tablets came in a plastic bag with a bag of gel to keep them fresh and I'm just worried that they are not what they should be or that they contain stuff that isn't good and afraid that they will make me really ill. They did come with a certificate of analysis but anxious about self-medicating as going alone isn't easy and perhaps I'm getting myself stressed and worked up for no good reason.....I just need reassurance that the stuff I'm starting to take is ok and that my fears are groundless.....I'm taking it slow only 1/2 grain split in 2 for 1 week and then 1 grain per day then see how I get on. I was on 150mcg thyroxine and decided to go it alone as I wasn't getting any help. Could someone please ground me as I feel I'm going nuts.....any help greatly received....thank you so much!!!

How many did you buy? I've bought trial packs of thyroid-s which were advertised as containing 60 pills per bag but actually contained 75 (which was a nice surprise), and they came in a sealed, waterproof plastic bag which could be closed again after opening. They were perfectly fine and did what I expected of them. I transferred them to a better container after opening.

I think if people buy 1000 at a time they come in a bottle, but I've never bought this number so can't be sure.

Yes. I suppose i expected them to come in more professional packaging and i bought around 200. I've also transferred them to a better container. It's great to know that so many people are taking thyroid S and feel well on it and i can actually stop worrying, which will be lovely.... thank you xx

Princess20,

Images in this link google.co.uk/search?tbm=isc...

Tablet Color: Thyroid-S tablet is a light brown color and shiny, Thiryod tablet is white and matte finish. Both tablets are white or off-white inside.

Tablet Coating: Thyroid-S is a coated tablet, and Thiroyd is uncoated.

Tablet Anti-Counterfeiting: The coating on Thyroid-S tablets is thin and distinctive and not easily duplicated by counterfeiters. Thiryod tablets are white and with no distinctive features and are more easily counterfeited.

Packaging: (Please Note: This discussion on packaging is referring to the full bottle 1,000 tablets packaging. The small packs, ie. 30-250 tablets, are packed in sealed, re-closeable, moisture barrier bags as described in the product listings. The bottle packaging is not available in tablet sizes less than 1,000 tablets.) Thyroid-S is packaged in a brown glass bottle with metal cap, and with moisture absorber inside, and cotton to fill the extra space in the bottle. The glass bottle is inside a cardboard box with shrink wrap which functions as the security seal. Thiroyd is packaged in a white plastic bottle, and the tablets are sealed inside a plastic bag with moisture absorber inside.

Don't worry, princess. A lot of people seem to be very satisfied with this product. The companies who make these often have only one product so they don't want to lose their business over some recall or defect. I'm sure it goes through lots of testing.

You may be very pleasantly surprised. I think natural thyroid is a lot easier on your system than T4. Did you mean split in two and take the same day? That would be 1/2 grain per day? You'll be stopping the thyroxine, right?

Hi. Yes I've stopped the throxine and I am on 1/2 grain a day. Thank you so much for getting back to me. I can now put those worries aside and concentrate on getting better. It's so nice to hear voices of 'reason'. X

Don't worry...that's how the tablets are! I take them without any issues and feel much better than I did on T4 only. I'm also going it alone because the. NHS has failed me. I have no thyroid, so am totally reliant on tablets. Good luck. Xx

I have no thyroid either so yes as you, going it alone. Thank you for replying to me. That alone has made me feel so might brighter in myself. xx

Yes, Tracey, it occured to me when I embarked on self-medicating with Thyroid S that for those of us with little or no thyroid function something that has all the ingredients of a thyroid is rather more likely to help us than something which delivers a big wallop of just one thyroid hormone. My thyroid was hit by RAI.

It depends a bit where you got them and the quantity, but many overseas suppliers pack them in bags to save postage. I've had Thiroyd in silver ziplock bags with a desiccant pack and they've been fine.

one supplier I used had a bag of silica gel on top of cotton wool - it was a bottle of tablets, with all the right labels and they work fine. The gel is to absorb any moisture.

I was more conservative than you (I used the thyroid Patient advocacy guidelines, slowly swapping from Levo to thyroidS. I did several weeks on quarter grain and reduction of Levo by 25mcg to 100 and soon felt tons better, then moved up to half a grain and 75mcg I did not divide the dose and did not feel too good but once I split it like you do I felt good again. I kept adding quarter grain and reducing by 25mcg and leaving it for some weeks to allow my body to adjust - I felt so much better I kept going until I was just on 1.25 grains of ThyroidS. The TPA has some very helpful advice I'll add the link for you. If the ThyroidS suits you will never look back

Hi - I took Thyroid- S (half a 60 mg tablet a day) for about 6 weeks. I bought the 1000 60 mg tablets packaging in a brown bottle inside a white and red cardboard box from SPS in Thailand. Sadly, I broke out into a horrible rash on my face and neck, which took at least a month to disappear and lots of non-steroid soothing hypoallergenic creams after I discontinued the product. I have been on 25 mcg of Thyroxine for 4 weeks now and of course have not improved at all yet (too low, I know). I hope Thyroid-S works for you.

Poor You! That must have been so uncomfortable and sore. I hope the product works fo me though. But you've had to go right back to scratch and that must be soul-destroying. Take care and i hope you feel better soon. X
