I am looking for the book: 'Tyranny of the TSH' by John C Lowe, published 2005 but now out of print. Does anyone have a copy they wish to sell?

Good Luck, I have never actually seen a copy of that book and I have never been able to find a copy on the used book sites. He was working on a book of the same name just before he passed away. It was far enough along that they thought Jackie Yellin, his editor/co-author, would be able to finish it but apparently the settlement of his estate was problematic. PR

PS If you actually find a copy, please post and let us know that it exists.

I have been told that it does not exist, but that is very puzzling in view of the fact that it can be seen on line, with the ISBN number and statement that it in not available or out of print!

I have found a good interview on-line:

Rethinking the TSH Test: An Interview with David Derry M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Derry's interview is spot on, very few doctors are aware of what is a basic and important concept: "All control of thyroid is local, in the tissues and organs throughout the human body." As regards the Thyroid Function Tests, any result in the reference range does not guarantee normality either in terms of diagnosis or titrating the dose. PR

I wondered whether TUK might have it in the lending library, but sadly not.

TUK does have all these though: thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/TUK_PD...

I thought you might like to read this although not by Dr Lowe:

This seems to be the last publication and as PR4NOW says since his death there is a dispute:-

Lowe, J.C.: Tyranny of the TSH. Boulder, McDowell Health-Science Books, in press, 2009.

Thanks for that. It will be useful to send to my GP, who like the rest of them is fixated by the TSH. Now, I simply go to the Lab to have mine tested as soon as it opens its doors at 7am, to take advantage of the circadian rhythm of the TSH. It invariably come back within the range. My doctor voices her pleasure and I silently say to myself "What a bloody Idiot!"
