Let go of conventional wisdom, in regards to food and medicine, to be unconventionally healthy

naturalnews.com/048204_conv...

(And it does say 'medicine', not Hormone Replacement, in case anyone's worried. lol)

Oh greygoose i do love your sense of humour! How sad though that the info we are being fed by the powers to be and big pharma is causing so many problems. It makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time.

Yup. Still, we should all know that they are not interested in our health, they are only interested in money! Big Pharma doesn't create cures, it creates customers!

Ok sh*tkickers are on and being taken next week for my core biopsy results. I will not be spoken to that way by a consultant ever again.

So true that link - gluten free means no more bloated belly & feeling better being treated by me! Oh and thyroid HU. :)

Just imagine if they had to deal with healthy people, instead of sick ones, they wouldn't get away with being so rude! When I've been feeling well, I've put more than one in his place, but they just look at you amazed... what are you talking about? Rude? Me? They just have no idea!!!

Thank you for making me laugh. :-D

Yes, I've decided to do some kicking this year. I'm now on 2 grains of NDT that my GP says I don't need and no longer eat wheat because it gives me the sh*** - but apparently that's all in my head too as I'm not gluten intolerant according to the mighty test.

To hell with it all. I'm officially abandoning dieting too. I choose to eat good nourishing food and take not a blind bit of notice of the calories - just pay attention to how happy my tummy is instead. :)

Yippee!!! Way to go, Jazz! S*d the ******** calories! lol No, seriously, calories were a red Herring brought in in the mid-sixties, I believe, before that, nobody counted, they just ate. Not going to do you any good if you're hypo, anyway! Have a look at this :

holtorfmed.com/weight-loss/

Curse the person that invented counting calories!!!

Of course! And that was my first thought when I read it - another way to keep women in their place!

Well, ****** me. :-o

Leptin resistance also results in cellular hypothyroidism that is not detected by standard thyroid function tests, including the TSH, free T4 and free T3 levels. The metabolic effects of leptin resistance include a diminished TSH secretion, a suppressed T4 to T3 conversion, an increase in reverse T3, an increase in appetite, an increase in insulin resistance and an inhibition of lipolysis (fat breakdown). Thus, with leptin resistance, significant hypothyroidism may exist despite the fact that standard thyroid tests look “normal”. If a person is not able to lose weight despite dieting, there is usually a problem with leptin resistance that needs to be diagnosed and treated. With treatment, dramatic weight loss can be obtained.

That would explain a lot. Thanks for the link, Grey x

Oh wow! Have to admit up until about 7/8 years ago I ate what I liked and have absolutely no will power because of it.

Sweetie, why should you have willpower? Do you mean you sit and stuff yourself with chocolate and cream cakes all day? I somehow doubt it. If you are hypo you have low metabolism - why do you think some people can eat exactly what they like and how much they like without putting on an ounce? They have good hormones. We don't. Plus most of us have been damaged by the low-fat nonsense - fortunately, I never bought into that. Don't blame yourself! It's not your fault!!!

Oh I don't food is for enjoying. Thankfully 5 dogs, 9 ponies and many chickens plus a family later I don't get chance to sit down unless working so my metabolism is forced to work to some degree.
