Thyroid-S compared to Armour?

I have hashis and currently take 50mcg of Levo and 12.5mcg of cytomel (T3 self prescribed and purchased. Online from Mexico)

But would like to move to Armour or one of the other brands of NDT.

Someone has recommended Thyroid S to me and I want to understand how this compares to Armour in composition and strength.

I was taking nutri thyroid for some time which I did find beneficial but on as dose of 9 tablets per day which given the amount of fillers etc coupled with sluggish digestion I wasn't happy with long-term. Is Thyroid-S more comparable to Nutri?

Armour is the original NDT. Thyroid-S didn't suit me and where I have freckles - it changed the skin so stopped it but I never tried Armour. I have taken Erfa, Thyroid-S, Thyroid, and Nature-throid. Erfa was quite good but Nature-throid, for me, was the best. What suits one person doesn't always suit another. So it is trial and error I am afraid. One difference between the others at Nature-throid is that it is hypoallergenic.

Interesting shaws, thank you. I did not realise that there were so many brands of NDT, nor that there were these sort of issues in taking.

Could you PM me where you purchase your nature-throid?

Hi there, please could you tell me (maybe PM) what the reaction was with Thyroid S in regard to your freckles? I was researching Thyroid S and came across this old post! I am considering trying Thyroid S, but as I unfortunately have freckles, I don't want to take anything which would make them darker, brighter or bigger!

I don't have freckles on my face but back of hands and they just seemed to be a bit darker. That's not to say that will happen to everyone as it is a popular NDT within the forum and not too expensive (I believe).

We can all have different effects to thyroid hormones.

I tried about 3 NDTs and although I felt a lot better I didn't have relief of all symptoms. Many say that Thyroid or Thiroid S suits them.

Jacs, Nutri-Thyroid is a supplement, it doesn't contain active hormones T4 and T3. Thyroid-S is NDT and one grain contains 38mcg T4 and 9mcg T3 which is the same as Armour and other brands. One grain is roughtly equivalent to 75-100mcg Levothyroxine. You are currently taking the equivalent of 87.5mcg Levothyroxine but the T3 element is much higher than that in one grain of NDT.

Hi clutter, thanks for responding; I wasn't sure if thyroid-s was an NDT. I presume then it contains T1 and T2 also?

You say I 'm taking the equiv of 87.5 but I'm not clear how you calculated that from 50 T4 and 12.5 T3. Could you explain please?

Jacs, T3 is 3 x stronger than T4 so 12.5mcg T3 is equivalent to 37.5mcg T4 + 50mcg T4 = 87.5mcg. This link shows the ingredients of various brands of NDT stopthethyroidmadness.com/a...

Shaw's reply about the freckles is interesting. Have recently taken a little too much ThyroidS as a starting dose and developed a skin rash, looks like a cold sore (I don't gets them) but don,t think it is....

I swear by nature-throid and am adding in a little T3 too at the moment as I'm gaining weight and my symptoms are coming back. This is related to some medication I'm on, not because the studd doesn't work. I felt fantastic within 3 days of taking the nature-throid, it was quite miraculous. Have pm'd you x

Could anyone recommend a pharmacy in the UK (or any other EU country) carrying Nature-Throid? I would be interested in trying it out, as many swear by it, but it is not available in Belgium (only Armour and Erfa are). However, an international pharmacy might agree to send me NT even if the prescription is for Armour or Erfa...as they are considered 100% interchangeable.
