Just had a lot of blood tests done, I am hypothyroid, currently on 75mcg of Levothyroxine and my last TSH test was showing around 1.5 down from over 7. I still feel awful so GP suggested a complete bloods overview. Results are below, meeting GP on Wednesday so could do with someone clever sparing a moment to give their opinion please?
Chris, TSH 1.5 is a bit high for some people. Most are comfortable with TSH just above or below 1.0 so ask your GP to increase Levothyroxine to 100mcg. Read Dr. A. Toft's comments to Pulse Magazine re euthyroidism and TSH levels thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... Email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk if you want a copy of the article to show your GP.
It can take several weeks after you are optimally dosed and bloods good to *feel* the improvement, as bloods react faster than tissue cells to medication.
B12, folate and ferritin look ok. VitD is low. Optimal is 75-200 so if your GP doesn't prescribe vitD3 it would be sensible to supplement 5,000iu for 6/8 weeks to build levels and then maintain on 2,000iu daily at least until April when ultraviolet levels are high enough to stimulate vitD.
