switch from Erfa to Armour...?

I have been on Erfa Thyroid (6 grains or 360 mg) daily for the past few months. I don't really like the 125 mg pills (different fillers and binders?), and feel much better on the 30 and 60 mg pills so, last time I ordered, I asked the pharmacy to replace one 125 mg pills bottle by two 60 mg pills bottles...it has worked just fine, and I have managed to rid myself of most if not all hypo symptoms. I just got my latest labs back, from five days ago:

TSH 0.01

FT4 1.2 (0.7-1.5)

FT3 3.6 (1.7-3.7)

anti-TPO <6 UI/mL (down from 6000 at the time of diagnosis)

anti-thyrogloubline 4 UI/mL (<4)

However, my doctor wants me to switch to Armour, because that is what she takes herself, and she believes that is the best thyroid drug.

I wonder: has anyone successfully switched from Erfa to Armour? I would hesitate to switch, now that my FT4 levels are finally mid-range (or even slightly above), and my FT3 levels close to the upper normal range...where I understand they should be?!

Sorry, I forgot the reference ranges for anti-TPO levels; it's (<6)

I (like many others) switched from Armour to ERFA after they changed the former. I believe that Armour is more expensive too.

That said, most of us here would suggest that you are very lucky to have a doctor that understands the situation because they are in it as well. So I would say why not try the Armour on the understanding that you can continue with which medication you appear to be doing better on.

Are you still on Erfa and doing fine on it? STTM claims it was recentlyreformulated, and it is true that the labels now look different, but I feel no difference at all...

Yes, Armour is much more expensive. The price of Armour just about doubled in Belgium; I have no idea if the same thing happened elsewhere?

I'm still on ERFA but have not been feeling good on it since about February. My endo is trying to source West Throid as an alternative.

BUT, I have been feeling very slightly better on my latest batch of ERFA. I'm also fairly sure that I have a B12 issue as well, and that makes it even harder to assess the ERFA.

Interesting, please keep us posted, will you...?
