Her T4 level is very low so I would think she hasn't enough to convert to T3, which is the Active hormone we need for our metabolism to function. This is a link of all the thyroid hormone blood tests and you will see if the FT4 is low the thyroid is struggling.
Your friend may have to have a private consultation, so if you email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org and ask for a list of sympathetic doctors. Also you can put a new post (clicking for Community at the bottom of the page and it will therefore be kept only in the Community) asking for a private message to be sent to you requesting info for a doctor/endo in your area.j
Terri, it may be worth your friend having a private FT3 test to see whether she is converting her low T4 to T3 via Blue Horizon or Genova thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...
Ask your friend to have her GP test ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate as hypothyroid patients are often deficient/low and these deficiencies can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood similar to hypothyroid symptoms. Post your results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results) in a new question and members will advise whether supplementation is required.
