Hi, does anyone know if it is ok to take these together? I've heard because of the iron in the Elevit it should be taken apart from the thyroxine by a few hours. However is the iodine an issue?

Jhk1, patients on thyroxine should be getting their iodine requirement from the thyroxine and diet. It's generally advised to avoid iodine supplements when on thyroxine.

Levothyroxine should be taken with a full glass of water on an empty stomach one hour before or two hours after food and drink, two hours away from other medication and supplements and four hours away from calcium, iron and oestrogen.

Have you had thyroid blood tests since your pregnancy was confirmed? Dose is often increased during the first trimester as the foetus is dependent on maternal thyroid hormones. Thyroid and pregnancy was discussed in Inside Health bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04kbl8w
