Adrenal Support Supplements, recommendations please.

Recent stress has led to some serious adrenal fatigue, would like to supplement with adrenal support, am looking for tried and tested recommendations please. Looked on Amazon and Ebay only to become confused at the many supplements on offer, some even had iodine in them which I thought was not to be taken when hypo.

I use nutri adrenal extra, Deglycyrrhizinated licorice root, vit d3, vit k2, b12 complex, folate and b12 sublinguals. I'm deficient in b12, vit d and iron as well as having secondary adrenal insufficiency that drs won't treat.

A very helpful nutritionist in 2009 advised I try Dr Wilson's Adrenal Dynamite, a powder containing desiccated adrenal gland and essential vitamins and minerals, and it is quite effective in relieving some symptoms, but not my chronic fatigue. Search on Google. I still use it.

It's better not to take the whole adrenal gland suplement but adrenal cortex only. I will try it in a few days and tell you if it works

Make sure you're getting plenty of salt and Vit C! You can also try ashwagandah (spelling?) and gensing.

Dr. Wilson's book is good on Adrenal Fatigue. I've also read others. You need the B-vitamins, but especially B5. You can take 500 mg twice or 3 x a day. Then also high doses of vitamin C. You need to have good Iron stores, ferritin levels should be 70-90. There's many herbs, such as, Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, Licorice, Siberian Ginseng....sorry if I mis-spelled any, but those are the top ones.

I had trouble with Iodine, but you may not. I took too high of a dose. You need to have a Selenium with Iodine.

It's true to look for adrenal gland CORTEX, not whole gland. In whole gland can be too much adrenline.

If your adrenal glands are stuggling, there can be "pregnenolone steal" Preg. is the precurser for making other hormones. You can take a pregnenolone supplement. Also it's good to take DHEA, as that is another thing that the adrenal glands make.

Be careful taking anything in the 2nd paragraph. start with small doses, just to support your adrenal function. rest and reduce stress, eventually wean off things and let your adrenal glands start working again. There is a feedback loop, so what you take, will tell your adrenals to not make and they will rest, but you want them to get going again when you recover.

Darn it, typed out a long reply then found I was not logged in....

I cannot believe I did not remember I had a copy of Dr. Wilson's book on adrenal fatigue, thank you for reminding me, I have just dug out my copy and will have a read, my low feelings seem to have sent me to another planet. I have managed some pottering around today but feel unwell again this evening. I have eaten all my meals which are healthy, taken 2 multi phytonutrient complex tablets, 2 pure Tulsi tablets plus 2,000 Vit D, which I do each day but none of which seem to make much difference. You have given me a long list of supplements which I will look into. Have a Dr's appointment on Wednesday, have mentioned adrenals in the past only for eyes to roll up at the ceiling and told my tsh levels are normal, have no confidence in the medical profession, I am now in my 70's and generally get fobbed off with it's your age whatever my problem is. I am so fed up with all the guess work. Thank you again for taking time out to respond.

yes, I don't trust most Doctors. The TSH is stupid, find out what your free T3 and free T4 is. Those links I sent, are from the best thyroid site and you"ll agree with the title, "Stop the Thyroid Madness". Many of us are fed up!
