Can someone help with my results

FT4 8.6 (pmol/L. . Range 9.00 - 25.00

TSH 5.3. Range 0.3-5.00

FT3 4.2. range 3.5-6.50

TPO ab 328. range <60

Does this mean Hashimoto thyroiditis ?

am taking 50mg levothyroxine to start with and my doctor say I need to be between TSH 1-2.

Thanks.

I don't have Hashimotos, but I think the presence of antibodies probably indicates that you do.

Sounds as if you have a fairly cute doctor if he or she understands that your TSH needs to be low for you to feel well.

Stick with your doctor's suggestions and see how you feel.

RM10, yes your positive antibodies mean you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's). Gluten free diet is helpful for some Hashi patients in reducing antibodies and flare ups.

Make sure you have another blood test 6/8 weeks after you started Levothyroxine. 50mcg is a starter dose and you will almost certainly need an increase in dose to get your TSH down to just above or below 1.0 and to raise your FT4 and FT3.

Thanks, the doctor did tell me to book another blood test in 6 weeks. I feel positive I'm finally getting sorted after 4 years of problems

RM10, next time you see your GP ask for ferritin, vitD, B12 and folate to be tested too as they're often deficient/low in the months/years prior to a hypothyroid diagnosis and getting levels good in range helps absorption of Levothyroxine, aids T4 to T3 conversion and aids general wellbeing.

Thanks, will do.

My TSH is 5.6 (range to 5.0) and free T4 is 12.4 ( range from 12) and. Antibodies 125. Doc says I don't need treatment although Endo appt in Nov. I have severe edema in legs and feet which has been diagnosed this week as nephrotic syndrome and I'm to have a kidney biopsy before any treatment. Can't help wondering if the thyroid is involved in my kidney problem a d fed up that I've had no treatment at all since Jan when I first reported symptoms. Is it a postcode lottery on the TSH levels that get treated. ?
