Update on my visit to docs for those who helped and advised me the other day.

Firstly thank you. I went to the docs armed with my sheet of numbers and stuff, relayed my symptoms, said I was unhappy about being told"there are worse things at sea" etc. I said I wanted to be at optimal health(felt a bit stupid saying that actually, lol)....and asked what they could do about that.

After a discussion about my numbers, I was shown the previous blood tests, and was told that I was way out of whack 3 years ago? That was a surprise to me as I only went to the docs on February this year due to missed periods. I was displeased that no one thought to tell me this 3 years ago. Humph!

I have now been given a form to test b12, full blood count, ferritin, serum folate, urea and electrolytes and vit D. I told them about my sore tongue and bitter prickles when I ate and drank and I was told that was a form of indigestion? Wut? Cough....so I have been given omeprazole gastric tablets. I don't think I'll take them as I'm not so sure about that one, see how it goes. I also have been given some paperwork for another blood test in 2 months, plus moved up to 75 levo for one month to see what happens.

I thank those who gave me advice as I rarely go to the docs and was confused, angry, fed up and all sorts. Feeling a bit better now so maybe I can start to sort myself out when the results come back.

Thanks. Wishing you all well.....excuse the pun!

Brilliant! :) Thanks for reporting back! :)

Make sure you are keeping a note of how you are feeling with the increase.

When the other results come back, make sure to get a print out of them....

Hello Louise, thank you. I am going to ask for the results every time now. I didnt think I'd get the nerve to ask the first time, but yes, it makes a difference actually seeing the paper with numbers on so I can try to work out what's going on, with help on here. :)

Any symptoms on tongue can be due to low Vitamin B12, so wait until it's checked. Don't take any 'normal' as a diagnosis, you want a copy of the blood test results with the ranges and post here for comments. If you are hypothyroid we usually have low acid rather than high (omeprazole).

Thank you shaws. I'm writing all this stuff on my notepad so the next time I go I can remember everything. I wonder if my periods will ever return....can't say I'm missing them as they were always hideous, however......wondering where they've gone, haha.

Thanks again. I really appreciate all help.

Periods/fertility - definitely a hypo clinical symptom.

Northie, the extra Levothyroxine should kick in 7/10 days. If your vits and mins are low you should feel considerable improvement after supplementing for 4/8 weeks. Onwards and upwards :)

ps periods usually resume once optimally medicated for hypothyroidism.
