Just noticed that Kindle ebooks are offering 'Your Thyroid and How to Keep it Healthy: Second edition of The Great Thyroid Scandal and How to Avoid It [Kindle Edition]

Barry Durrant-Peatfield (Author)' for £1.19 today (RRP £15.99). Is it worth buying please?

I've got it on my kindle - pretty sure I didn't pay that price for it though. I hope I don't upset anyone out there when I say it isn't my favourite thyroid book - I know he has lots of followers, I find him a bit - dramatic - is probably the best I can think of to describe his style of writing.

At that price you can't really go wrong though - so go fir it and see how you find it.

Thanks Fruitandnutcase, I'll proceed with caution! Is there any book you would particularly recommend for someone who has had a hemithyroidectomy and whose remnant thyroid isn't doing much? I'm struggling a bit and finding the 3 month wait before the next action by the medical folk a bit trying.

YES! I thought it was well worth it at full price - but I shall get this too for my Kindle. Lots of good info.

I thought other people would come along and say a big YES to his book - I'm sure he is excellent - I just found him a bit overwhelming for some reason or another. £1.99 is an amazing deal though - definitely worth buying it.

Not sure what I'd actually recommend. A lot of what I like depends on how I'm feeling at the time.

I've got a few - I've got Graves Disease and Hypothyroidism by Safraz Zaidi which I quite liked, I've got Thyroid Disorders by Tony Toft, which I found quite useful even though he is one of 'the establishment' and doesn't believe anything more than T4, I've got the one you have just bought, another one called Wow, Your Mom Really is Crazy by Carol Gray, I've got Living Well with Graves and Hyperthyroidism by Mary Shomon and she does one for Hypothyroidism, she is American but I liked it.

I often buy books from the second hand options shown on the Amazon pages, you can get them fir 1p plus postage which is a good deal. I've also got Could it be B12 and an Alyssa Burns Hill book about Weight Loss Winners and Dieting Downfalls.

Thanks for this Fruitandnutcase, I'll have a look out for some of these once I've had a go at today's purchase. You must be a fount of knowledge if you've got through that lot!

No, sadly not a fount of knowledge I just kept reading because I was always looking for answers to why I felt so awful.

Now I feel a lot better I only read on a 'need to know' basis like when I wanted more levo or when I didn't agree with something my endo had said - I just go thigh them and pick out all the bits that support my case.

I read 'Wow, your mom really is crazy' way back when I was first diagnosed and when I was at my worst (considering I was probably a bit crazy too) it rang a bell.

It is more a story about a woman's journey to getting diagnosed rather than a text book but it was very good to know that I wasn't the only crazy one out there and she wasn't really crazy anyway - just undiagnosed. :-)

Thanks, Louise. I had to go out and I bought it before I got your reply as, at that price, I couldn't lose. So I'm sorry that I didn't use the link this time but will remember for future purchases .

No worries! :)

We don't get LOADS of money from Amazon, but it is a nice little amount every single month! :)

And a reminder that a Kindle is a wi-fi device, and may be causing your thyroid and other organs problems while you use it!
