I have been prescribed 50 micrograms Levothyroxine daily and advised to lose weight and watch diet. My lab results are: HbA1c level (DCCT aligned). 6.6% HbA1c level -IFCC standardised 49 mol/mol. Serum TSH level 8.05 mU/L. Serum free T4 level 7.4 pmo/L . Plasma glucose level 11.2 mmol/L. I have to return in 2-3 months to repeat tests. After reading others comments here I think I have had this condition for some time. In 1993 I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, At my last colonoscopy in 2005 was advised I had diverticular disease. I developed an allergy to wheat several years ago and put it down to diverticular disease, now I read it is a symptom is Hashimotos disease. Can anyone help.

Hi Jukebox. I was diagnosed as T2 diabetic and low thyroid 20 months ago. My H1bA1c was higher at 52 so I was put on Metformin for a year. Now off metformin as my BMI decreased from around 28 to 23 (13 st down to 11 stone for 5'8"). My levi started at 50 but had to be increased to 75 (6 months ago). It looks as though they are trying to get you to make lifestyle changes before your blood glucose gets higher.

Hopefully you can make some dietary changes that help in the "diet and exercise" approach and also are helpful to your other health challenges. Good luck and I hope your succeed. Bob
