from getting bloods done to getting results how long has everyone had to wait?

got my bloods done last thursday , i got my platlet count back on mondya but only as i went in for that one. but nt heard from Dr yet. was wondering on time scales.So i havent meeb dyx yet.

Hi they are usually back within a week. If you phone your surgery they will tell you results over the phone, or will say if you need to see your GP. Good luck

Hi Harry, at our surgery it's usually 48 hrs but... we can't have any info until the results have been seen by the doc so that could add a couple of days to the wait sometimes.

In my experience it can take up to a week to get some results back (i.e. at the surgery) but there is sometimes additional waiting time for the GP to actually review them.

Normally can get hold of a copy within a week by contacting the surgery and asking for the results over the phone or to collect a print off.

They normally send a letter if you need to make an appointment to discuss the results.

The surgery wont usually contact you with results (unless its serious) you need to contact them the time frame depends on what tests have been done, thyroid function tests are usually 2 days at my surgery

thanks folks i think i will give them a ring as the antihistamines they gave me for the itching have kicked started my asthma,so cant stay in them for much longer. thanks again.

Normally our surgery say to wait a week but when I was first diagnosed bloods were taken on a Thursday morning and by Friday tea time I had an appointment booked with an endo and was taking Carbimazole so I think it depends on what the results are.

It can vary widely from test to test. Some can be done in minutes once they get to the lab, so would be available next day for example. But in the lab where I work, our tests can take weeks to process.
