Hi Everybody

Please can you tell me if there is a Thyroid group in Hull that I can go to as I'm feeling really fed up at the minute and would like to meet with people who are in a similar situation

Thank you

Nicky

Im in Pocklington and would be very interested in meeting up too.

This is 5 of us so far. So maybe we should arrange something between ourselves? Evenings are best for me but a Saturday is a possibility too

Orangelady1 is going to arrange a 'meet up' in Yorkshire soon if you are interested? Hopefully I will go depending on when and where it is to be held.

Welcome to the forum, Penny1973.

I'm afraid this thread is a year old and your question may not be seen by most members. I suggest you copy your post and paste it into a new question by clicking on the orange Write a post in the top right hand corner.

Briefly, you will have had thyroid blood tests which show your TSH is low or undetectable and your FT4 and FT3 are too high which means you are producing too much hormone and are overactive (hyperthyroid).

Carbimazole is an anti-thyroid drug which regulates your thyroid hormone production. You will need blood tests every 4-6 weeks to make sure your dose is correct as your thyroid stabilises. Most people ask their specialist or GP for a print out of their results with the lab ref ranges as it is good practice to monitor your own health and it helps other members advise/comment when you post a question.

Untreated hyperthyroidism can have unpleasant symptoms and impact health but you should start to feel better as the Carbimazole starts to work, although it will take weeks rather than days for much improvement. Often 9-18 months on Carbimazole sorts things out and you may be able to stop taking it and enjoy remission.
