Are you asking if, when your vitd levels are at an optimal level, do you need to supplement to keep them there?
That would really depend if you have any other problems - people with gut issues will sometimes have to supplement for life.

i am hypothyroid ..and probably due to low stomach acid thyroid patient face this problem..but once after dosing with vitamin d and it get optimal then to maintain that optimal level one need some supplementation or it will get by own?
and moggie can u tell me is there any other lab work needed except vitamin and minerals a thyroid patient needed?
What vitamins have you had tested so far - B12, iron, ferritin and folates? Have you had your adrenals checked? or been tested for coeliac (wheat intolerance), do you have hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid illness)?
How low where you and do your mean to have regular blood tests to keep an eye on your levels?
I ask because taking to much vitd can be dangerous as the more vitd you take the more calcium your body makes, so if you take to much vitd then your body can deposit the excess calcium in areas of your body that will cause harm, for example in your kidneys, causing kidney stones, or worse still in your heart.
Through regular testing I have working out that I need to supplement 3,000iu daily to keep my body just at the optimum level but everyone is different.
me level was 18 when diagnosed..now in 60 s..and have work for low stomach acid as well(sttm website)..to make myself in 60s i have to take supplement or it will do on it own?
Depends where you live and if you get lots of sunshine? and I don't know how low your level is because you have not included your lab ranges but you might want to supplement 1,000iu to start with but get tested in 4 - 6 months time and see what your levels are. If they have dropped again then you will know that you are not supplementing enough but if it is too high then you will know that your don't need to supplement at all.

If you're in the UK your vitD levels are unlikely to rise before summer without supplementing. We just don't get enough sunshine.
My vitD has risen to 116 but I intend to supplement until summer and then again next Autumn/winter.
Hi Once vit D OK treatment is permanent ,unless the calcium goes over range, frequent tests, then , even if Osteomalacia ( adult rickets ) like me, vit D must be stopped, too dangerous then.
Remember some people feel nauseous with Vit D3 so take it steady-start with 1000 iu per day at first. Also can recommend VALUPAK as the best value-99p for 60 tablets @1000 iu; same ingredients as expensive brands.
