Do thyroid support supplements interfere with pmt supplements? Having a very bad time.

I had terrible pmt for years but eventually put together a regime of supplements that got rid of most of my symptoms. A couple of months ago I started a thyroid support regime, under the guidance of a doctor, to address low T3 levels and hypo symptoms. Since then my Pmt has come back with a vengeance, and I have had extreme symptoms for two weeks out of each three week cycle (very severe depression and anxiety, headaches every day, can't stop eating) The doctor says it is unrelated and a coincidence, but I wondered if anyone had a similar experience?

I take a lot of supplements but the ones that specifically have helped my pms are vit b complex and gla. Would these be compromised by taking nutri thyroid, t-convert and thyroid complex - which are the supplements the doctor has given me?

Interestingly I was having bad night sweats every night until I started the thyroid regime. These have gone but the pmt is horrendous. And my thyroid symptoms remain as bad as ever. I'm feeling a bit hopeless as everything I try seems to backfire and leave me feeling even worse.

Can I ask if you are keeping your thyroid meds well away from everything else you are taking.

I see that you have asked this question before but did not come back and answer anyone - was there a reason for this? You will find that if you do answer people that have commented on your post or question they tend to come back with other suggestions.

I asked it again because I couldn't find the post or any of the answers! I thought something had gone wrong with my posting it. Maybe one of the admins will be able to combine the two threads if I ask nicely?

I take thyroid complex and levothyroxine when I wake up, then take the other two thyroid supplements with breakfast and lunch, alongside some fertility-related supplements. I now take my gla and b-complex in the evening with dinner, to try and separate them from the thyroid meds, but have only started doing this in the last few days. Prior to that I was taking them at breakfast.

If you do take supplements on top of your prescribed thyroid tablets you should be asking your doctor if this is OK. Some things should not be taken along side thyroid tablets as they may interfere with the medication. Too many supplements can actually be detrimental to your health. I would go back to your doctor about your PMT. Some types of the pill or coil cause horrendous PMT so start there. GOOD LUCK

I haven't used any contraception for many, many years. So it's definitely not that.

I told my thyroid doctor about all the other stuff I was taking and he said it was all fine. I think I'm going to take all the other supplements in the evening so that they don't clash with the thyroid stuff at all. And cross my fingers that it will make the difference.

It took such a long time to get my pmt under control, and for it to have resurfaced now is hideous. The only thing that's changed is the Nutri thyroid meds - but my thyroid doctor dismissed the possibility that they were responsible, and just told me it's cos my progesterone is low. But my progesterone was always low, and I still managed to control the pmt until the last couple of months.

Hopefully changing the times I take all the pills will sort this out.

Thanks for the advice ladies :)
