I had 2 needles during my FNA. It was a lot more painful than last time. The specialist had to go deeper into my gland and I really did feel both needles moving around in my neck to collect a good sample. My neck bled a lot more than previously too. The first time did not seem so bad. I am really sore. I am posting as I did promise a few that I would. I am now awaiting to see my specialist for results on the 6th feb. My first results were suspicious and came back as a 3. All I can do now is await my results again.

I feel for you - literally! When I had FNA he used 6 needles and they were all very painful and I fainted when I tried to get off the bed afterwards! Good luck for the 6th Feb x

Awww thank you so much for your kind reply. I am so sorry to hear that you had 6 needles. I guess that I got away lightly compared to you. I didn't faint luckily but I really did feel light headed afterwards. I am very bruised this morning. Thank you so much for your good luck wishes. I will post again soon. Take care of yourself. X

I remember my FNA was like a sewing machine, he went in about a dozen times all over my 'enlarged node'. It has its benefits as it was this FNA that identified the cancerous tissue, so hopefully it will come back clear, but you can rest assured it will be the most effective method of detection. Good luck! :)

Keep me posted too, horrible experience for you and even worse is the white-knuckle waiting. Try to do something lovely for yourself - massage, yoga, films that make you laugh, going for walks with friends ( no matter the weather) and stopping for drink on way back..... make sure your partner, if you have one, pulls out all the stops... it's vital...x

Hi there Tilly, Thank you so much for your kind reply. I will keep you posted, thank you so much. It was an horrible experience and I am very bruised this morning but at least it is over with for the time being. I have to agree with you totally the waiting for results is the worst thing about it all. Thank you for all of your kind advice, I will certainly do that. I do have a very supportive husband, he attends all my appointments with me. I also have 5 grown boys and 4 grandchildren with a 5th on the way. The only problem that I have really is that they all would rather me not mention my illnesses. I think they worry and are scared. My mother died from ovarian cancer in 2002 at the age of 58 and it really did impact on us. I really do think that they are being over fearful because I have been unwell for a,while firstly with pre cancerous cells on my cervix, which were successfully treated, then I became diabetic and now my Thyroid. I am sure that all will be ok. I am sorry for my over explanation but you really have made me feel a lot better. Thank you. Xxx

diabetes can sometimes be related to thyroid.... for bruising there is that lovely homeopathic cream arnica and you can take in tablet form so it heals from inside out x

Have you been tested for b12 deficiency as it can give you precancous cells.I had breast biopsy yrs ago showed LCIS then I was hypo treated with thyroxin for 13 yrs.Now have been unwell for 9 mths a wonderful holistic dr found genetic mutation of b12. I had all classic symptons all 3 specialists 7 drs missed it.because blood tests come back in normal range they dismiss your symptons.
