Is T3 medication available over the counter in France? What is it called?

Hi everyone, does anyone have experience of buying T3 medication in France? My partner has training in France in March and he could get me some if it's available? Is it cheaper than the Mexican version?

The product I know is available in France is Sanofi Cynomel.

Many people who have tried several makes of liothyronine suggest it seems a bit weaker than Grossman Cynomel from Mexico (and it is a different formulation) but is perfectly OK.

Cannot answer anything else.

Hi Rod, thanks for your reply. It would make life easier if it was a standard formulation across the board. Seems really unfair as we're in the EU (don't get me started) that we should be paying the same and getting it over the counter if other countries in the EU can. We just get shafted by greedy drug companies in the UK.

Always feels like that but if there were a single formulation, if you had problems with that (e.g. contains wheat, lactose, talc or something else you cannot tolerate), you would be well and truly stuck. At least by having variations, you have a chance of getting another product.

I hear you Rod, but I think drug companies generally should be more mindful with what they use for fillers. Why not just have one hypoallergenic one that suits everyone. I guess it's down to cost.

I think that there really is no possibility of a single universal formulation. Whatever they use would not be good for someone. Only the other day someone said that the new WP Thyroid (which is touted as being fantastically hypoallergenic) did not suit her.

Mind, I would certainly be happy to see known problem substances (lactose, gluten, etc.) being generally deprecated and avoided wherever possible. And specific testing instituted to ensure that all excipients really are as benign as possible.

Yes Rod I have to agree. I'm having terrible problems with acetic acid in B12 injections yet others are ok. I do think drug companies should look hard and long at all excipients, and try and remove as many as possible.

I've only just discovered that B12 is available in patches as an alternative to injections and have just sent for some. Not sure whether they contain acetic acid though.

Hi Polaris, yes i've used the patches, not sure if they work, but I think I felt slightly better. Others though say their numbers didn't go up on them.

I had an acid free B12 injection on Monday and i've had 1 1/2 days of bladder pain. I read B12 itself can be a irritant. I'm taking flavour free sublingual 5,000mcg, but not convinced this is doing much. I have to take cimetidine for my bladder and this is causing absorption issues all round.

Hi Shaws, I do understand your position, but i've come across a long post from this site available under Google, and I do remember now reading it talking about buying T3 in France.

I'm not sure why people would have to private message me if this has been openly discussed before? I'm not asking for the name of a pharmacy, just the principle of obtaining it.

If we could get T3 on the NHS as we should, we wouldn't have to resort to self medicating! Surely this is the bigger issue?

Tricky one as usual! I think you are right, providing someone doesn't give you the name of the actual pharmacy you can go to....

At least if you are buying OTC you should have more chance of it being the thing you want, rather then buying online...

I'm sorry you have not had a more concrete response from anyone...

Hi Louise, my partner's in Paris doing training for 3 days and he just offered to have a go. Just is helpful that this is a possibility. T3 seems to be dirt cheap in France. What did we do that was so bad in the UK
