I saw a consultant last year who tells me that bloods were ok and the fatigue was just one of those things and when I ask him, as I have never experienced getting older before would that be the cause of me getting fatigued he just smiled and said nothing,"I have given up with these people". What I would like to know is there anything else I can try to over come this fatigue problem ie something different from levo. Also I don't understand the relationship between T3,T4 and TSH and what the readings mean can anyone advise.

Good morning geffers

You don't give your history in your profile so I am assuming you are now hypothyroid as you are on 50mcg of levo which is usually a starting dose, unless you are very frail with heart problems. Have you had a current thyroid gland blood test? If so, can you post them with the ranges. If not, get one from your GP and if you haven't had B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate ask for these to be done at the same time.

50mcg is a very low dose of meds and this is a link which will explain why? Go to the date November 20, 2002 to read the answer re taking a low dose.

Isn't it just the pits? They want people to work until they're in their late sixties and yet doctors are perfectly content to ascribe fatigue to getting older. It is bull. As you have surmised. Being constantly fatigued is not normal whatever age you are.
