I got tested due to pain in my thyroid and general fatigue, thinning hair and dry skin, and having had a very abnormal thyroid test many years ago (TSH was above 6 but I can't remember the result.

I've just had a thyroid test and my TSH is 1.34 and my Free T4 is 9.9 (range 7.5 to 21.1).
Roz, your T4 is very low in the range, no wonder you don't feel well. Are you having any treatment? The sooner you have at least some thyroid hormone, the better.
I assume your GP is going to do something in the light of this result? He may well say the TSH is withing range, but the T4 is dreadfully low.
Hi Marram. Thanks so much for your email. I have made an appointment to see my GP but of my own volition as when I was given the print out by the receptionist she said all the results were 'Normal'. My B12 was 372 which is great for me as I'm usually deficient and I have brought my iron levels up from critically low levels in the past year. I have IBS symptoms and fatigue and I know something is amiss, so I am going to use my private health care to get referred. My FT4 has been dropping in the past couple of years and my TSH rising. It is so good to get support and to know that someone else acknowledges that my FT4 is quite low and shouldn't be ignored! Thank you.
