Battle on, Vgam. Things will improve. I know it's hard to concentrate on anything when you're depressed, but try and set yourself some goals every day. Or maybe just one. You might, for instance, make it a project to learn as much about your pesky thyroid as you can. Then you can have a conversation with your doc about how you feel and what you think might be causing the way you feel, rather than being at the mercy of a) no information (take these and go away) or b) 'we know best' (they don't always). If you have a good doc s/he will listen. You don't mention whether you've been to your doc recently - but feeling as you do you should certainly go. You need to break out of the cycle of feeling awful: it's a nasty, downward spiral. You might need some medical help with that in the short term. Give yourself treats, be nice to yourself. You deserve it! I do hope the clouds lift for you soon.

I saw my doc last week and she asked if I wanted to reduce thyroxine. ..not sure why as levels were of tsh 1.55. I had bloods done yesterday and will see foc next tuesday...I just have not seen any improvement with time...the worse thing for me is I felt great before taking the tabs...just have no energy to fight.

Hi Vgam, my mood was definitely lower on Levothyroxine. You could ask your GP or Endo if you could have a small dose of T3. Many people have found they feel better on it alone or in combination with Levo.

I was diagnosed hypo just over 2 years ago, and all i can say is that it can seem like a lot of juggling doses and treatments to feel improvements. Have you had your iron vit B12 vit D3 etc etc checked? Deficiencies can cause low mood too. Hugs. Xx

Hi...are you on t3 4 combo??

Hi Vgam, i started to put a little Armour with the Levo as i just wasn't getting results and after 2 years getting very impatient. Because i could see some improvement in the swelling around my eyes and face,.i have slowly weaned myself off 200mcg of Levo now i take Armour wirh 25mcg T3. I'm not saying i'm instantly better, but i have noticed my head is clearer with thought processes and definitely have an improvement in low mood.

With me nothing dramatic seems to happen re thyroid meds, but i know at least one drug i have to take for another health problem causes poor absorption.

Hugs. X

I feel exactly as you do at the moment, Ive just had enough of doctors doing nothing. Now everytime I even think of getting in touch with one I go and smack my head off the wall a couple of times and tell myself that the headache is less painful and less stressful! I keep going, but I'm rappidly losing the will, then I tell myself something might be waiting just round the corner that will help. I know its really hard to do somedays, but keep looking forward, you never know what is there

Hi VGam :) I've sat in your shoes and can remember clearly (like it was yesterday) feeling exactly the same. It's a lonely, dark, exhausting place to be. There probably isn't just one thing that will make it all better, but definitely a combination of small things can help. Try; continuing to visit a forum such as this for advice/support/venting/learning - it helps to know you are not alone. Next time you see your GP please tell him/her how low you are feeling - sometimes we think that everyone else around us just "knows" but it would be a really good idea to verbalise it. If you cannot verbalise it or feel it's too hard to do so - write it down. I went to the GP once with a whole long list of symptoms written down, just like a bullet list and I wrote down how awful I was feeling and ended it with Please help me. Looking back it was a great thing to do as I know I wouldn't have been able to say it.

Remind yourself that it's a very long process, which CAN take years. I know that is something you probably don't want to hear right now, but it helps to be realistic with expectations. Even if it takes a long time, each time you make a successful progression ie an increase in meds it will feel a little better and so on.

I don't feel well every single day of my life but after 3 years have now returned to work part time, I run my household on my own and am a single parent to my children. 3 things that I never thought possible 3 years ago. Hang in there, it's very early days - this is a long haul thing I'm afraid and I really hope you have a reasonably "ok" day soon to keep you going.

All the best, Wired :)

You need to tell your doctor you feel suicidal, I know it is hard to sit in an office like that and say how low you feel but you owe it to yourself. Is there anyone you can take in with you for back up?

You are definitely not better off dead - you feel lousy now but you can feel so up and down with this thyroid stuff that you could be feeling miles better very soon.

I agree with Humphrey you need to be really kind to yourself, if you are able to take things as easy as you can while you feel bad, let people do things for you or if no one offers - make people do things for you.
