Getting my brain back!

I know my T3 is starting to make a real difference. Just like I used to be, pre-thyroid-disaster, I want to learn lots of new stuff. A couple of new languages, cognitive science, the bassoon, carpentry, computer hacking... the list is endless :D

Just in case you are feeling things will never get better, it can! I felt much better switching to NDT and then even better on T3 only. I am now on 100mcg T3 and realised for the first time today that I have my brain back! Although I have a degree in physics (and was doing a PhD before falling very ill) the last few years I have barely been able to add 2 and 2 to make 4 (and some mathematicians may argue that it doesn't have to equal 4!). I can think in 3 dimensions again (or even 4!) :)

Wishing everyone the very best for their thyroid recoveries. It really can get better. Huge hugs to you all.

So only another seven dimensions to go... :-)

But on a serious note, the differences we see in our members (and our admins!) over time can be nothing short of astonishing. Huge improvements are possible - and even likely given determination and support.

or 23 depending on to which theory you subscribe ;)

Yes, it is pretty amazing. I never thought I'd feel like this again. A little way to go still but I am very happy with where I am at the moment :)

Thanks. Yes, I think there is always hope. It's hard to see when you are in the depths of despair but it is there :)

Really encouraging to read a positive post and enables others to realise that all is not lost.

Do hope your good health continues Carolyn.

Amazing what a little T3 can do. Instead of a PhD in physics how about biochemistry? You would have an insight most biochemists would not have and there is much we need to know. It is good to hear your mind has returned. PR

Now there's a thought! I always enjoyed biochemistry at school :)

I was thinking exactly the same! You would have all our support and maybe some willing human Guinea pigs!

I'm really pleased for you - fantastic news. One problem we have with constantly moving house and GP's is that they (GP's) don't know what we used to be like, look like or indeed our previous occupations.

Good to hear you are improving Carolyn, have followed your progress over the past couple of years. Love the gentle banter between you and Rod, but am not clever enough to understand most of it.. The mere fact that you are able to throw back an answer means you must be improving. Janet.

Thank you. It is wonderful. I am reading books again. Over the weekend I read 'The Importance of Being Earnest' and 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime'. I have now started reading 'The Girl who Played with Fire'. It's so good to enjoy things again :)
