Can your Thyroid start working correctly again when you are told you have an under active Thyroid? Has there been any cases of this?

Yes it can happen. But it seems less common than it not recovering.

One particular example is when the under-functioning is due to a disease - recovery from that disease often also sees thyroid function recover.

Well that's good news in my book. If there is a slim chance that is better than none.

I suppose it depends on the cause. For example, some cases of post-partum thyroiditis are transitory. Perhaps there are other kinds of thyroiditis that resolve on their own.

It isn't usual for your thyroid to start working again but it can. Has this happened to you?

I was on 150ml levothyroxine that I have been on for 2 and a half years. Put down to 125ml December 2012. Put down to 100ml 2 weeks ago. When the doctor changed my medication i felt fine on every occasion. . And asked him why he changed it if I felt good. When the changes have been made i still felt good. The test results are just numbers to me and don't me anything to me. I have to trust his judgment as he is the doctor and I am not. I said to the doctor on the last appointment if you keep putting my medication down I will not be taking anything. I suppose I will have to wait until my next blood test. If it goes down again.
