has anyone been give armour thyroid by an NHS docter or private docter with thyroid blood results like mine and all hypothyroid symptoms.

My TSH IS 3.09 range (0.4-4.0) blood results taken March 2014 Genova Diagnostics privately.

T4 is 67.8 range (58-154)

I feel like a lump of lard, gaining weight ,poor appetite, no energy and all hypothyroid symptoms. GP just says its my ME and my thyroid levels are within range. I tried 2 days of my friends 50 mg of armour thyroid ,about a month ago ,and could feel a slight improvement in how I felt. I am having more blood taken tomorrow morning (privately again!) to see if there is a trend of increasing TSH and T4 getting lower. I just wondered if anyone out there is being treated with armour thyroid with similar blood results to the ones above. In the past another Gp at the practice allowed me to trial levothyroxine, however I got severe chest pains and was completely unable to tolerate it. This Gp was severely told off for even allowing me to try it.

This is an excerpt which may interest you from a Virologist. Some people are intolerant to levothyroxine, maybe the fillers/binders :-

His research has also extended to the clinical arena. Some fifteen years ago he was asked by colleagues to see patients who were considered to have myalgic encephalopathy or chronic fatigue syndrome or post viral syndrome or post viral fatigue on account of his interest in virus disease. He noted that a number of these patients had clinical features of hypothyroidism but had ‘normal’ levels of thyroid hormones which would lead most workers in the field to reject a diagnosis of hypothyroidism. Dr Skinner has since treated and returned to health many patients who were clinically hypothyroid but had normal thyroid chemistry and has reported these results in a preliminary paper entitled “Clinical response to thyroxine sodium in clinically hypothyroid but biochemically euthyroid patients”. He is disappointed that many doctors have little enthusiasm or will to examine this critical shortfall in patient care which in part motivated his book “Diagnosis and Management of Hypothyroidism”.
