Anyone know of private GP in Edinburgh or Perth who is sympathetic to natural thyroid prescribing?

Hi My GP will not refer me to Dr Skinner or prescribe desiccated thyroid, only thyroxine. Does anyone know of a private GP up here in Scotland who will consider prescribing this or who would be willing to refer me to Dr Skinner? Underactive thyroid is misunderstood!

I hate to disappoint you but the consultant I'm seeing in Edinburgh has told me that no-one in Edinburgh will prescribe natural thyroid. The consultants have an agreement that they will not prescribe it so I assume this applies to the whole Trust and prevents GPs from prescribing. I don't know about NHS Tayside but I am trying to find out so will let you know if I hear anything.

Hi are you planning to see Dr Skinner in Glasgow? I spoke to Helen, his assistant in Glasgow and she gave me info of a private GP in Glasgow that seem to ref. If you ring her she will be able to give you the number. luckely my GP referred me in the end

Hi thanks for this! I have the Birmingham number not the Glasgow number so yes please pm it thanks! Glasgow is where I would see him hopefully, best wishes!
