Havent taken the tablets, i got as far as buying a box but after my simvastatin experience I just couldnt bring myself to take them. Used to use Flora Pro Active products (dont take much dairy at all now) which I think is plant sterols and they worked. When I told a locum doctor I was giving up taking simvastatin and said I didn't want to try any other sort she said they had good results.

Higher cholesterol is a symptom of hypothyroidism and should reduce gradually once you are on the optimum dose of thyroid gland medication.

I haven't taken any plant sterols but this is a link to Dr Mercola. I don't know if the link will work but on our old site, we had quite a few negative reports on the side effects of statins.

This is a link re sterols but it also gives you some good foods on the r/h side to eat that will help reduce cholesterol.

I was prescribed statins when my cholesterol was around 8. Doctor got very annoyed when I refused to take them. Have since started using the milk with the sterols in it and eating a few almonds when I remember and have got it down to 5.1 so it does seem to work.
