I have recently been getting a few blood blisters in my mouth and on my tongue and lips when I eat certain foods.

The dentist is referring me to the dental hospital for blood tests as she thinks it may be another autoimmune disease.Does anyone else experience these symptoms?

I get these on a regular basis, even spontaneously and not related to eating - they usually last a couple of days. I have connective tissue diseases but that may not be the cause in your case.

Your GP could run the same blood tests as the dental hospital and it might be quicker going the GP route, just a matter of days before the results come back.

Thanks, I'll do that. Any idea of what type of tests and what they'd be looking for?

ITP can cause blood blisters - ask for blood tests.

If they're looking for something autoimmune they'll probabably run an auto-antibody screen, anti-nuclear antibodies and maybe Double-Stranded DNA.

As to what they might be looking for, Sjogren's causes lots of mouth problems - but then so do many other conditions. I have a Lupus/Sjogren's overlap.

good luck with the tests.
