Hi

I have this and when I queried it on Friday with the Endo received a shrug as a reply. He could not or would not answer me.

I took my daughter with me who is a veterinary nurse although we didn't tell him that and she asked quite a few questions none of which were answered. An example being now that her bloods are in the normal range if they continue to stay that way when can she expect to start to feel better. His reply was I don't know because it might not be due to her Graves it could be age.

Thanks I thought not old enough for my pension yet but feel like it. The pain in my thighs is bad and I was a really active person.

The only thing he did tell me was that the Carbimazole would help me to put on weight unfortunately as I was one of the unfortunate people who put on weight when I went hyper that I needed to do a lot more exercise. Very frustrating I did say no doubt I would see him in his diabetes clinic if this continued.

Very frustrating but I know a lot of people have similar problems. Ibuprofen works for me most of the time.

Sorry I am no help just wanted to say you are not alone.

Hope you get it sorted and feel better soon..

Regards

Elayne

Hi Elayne thanks for reply, I also put on 2 stones in weight when hyper, the pain is so bad i can not do any exercise at all, its taking all my time just to get up and stand, i really do not need to put on any more weight, i am a bit concerned that it may be the simvastatin, if so i will not be continuing to take it,

The Patient Information Leaflets of all Simvastatin products contain the statement below or something very similar:

Contact your doctor immediately if you experience

unexplained muscle pain, sensitivity to pressure or

muscle weakness. This is because on rare occasions,

muscle problems can be serious, including muscle

breakdown resulting in kidney damage; and very rare

deaths have occurred.

You may have a greater risk of muscle breakdown at

higher doses of simvastatin, particularly the 80mg

dose. The risk of muscle breakdown is also greater

in certain patients. Talk with your doctor if any of the

following applies to you:

• you are more than 65 years old

• you have kidney problems

• you have thyroid problems

• you or close family members have a hereditary

muscle disorder

• you are female

• you have ever had muscle problems during

treatment with cholesterol-lowering medicines

called ‘statins’ or fibrates

• if you consume large amounts of alcohol

Consult your doctor if any of the above applies to you

or has applied to you in the past.

medicines.org.uk/emc/medici...

Emphasis above added by me.

Please do what it says. If you cannot see your doctor straight-away, consider calling 111 or whatever you have in your part of the country for advice.

Elsewhere on the PIL it says to stop taking the Simvastatin immediately. Do not think that simply stopping it is sufficient - you need to be seen by someone.
