Thank you for such a speeeeedy response - much appreciated. Have only just happened upon this site and I find it really supportive and informed and interesting precisely because of the posts by fellow thyroiders who experience what they post about !

No but it will help your body convert T4 to T3, improve your mood & energy level, improve any numbness if you have numb fingers & more! Well worth taking B12 xx

Thank you for your response - that's really encouraged me to go ahead and try a supplement in the hopes it might help alleviate the symptoms you list as indeed they do describe mine to a T ! Brill thank you !

I swear by it now! Also vitamin D which you need for thyroid hormones to work at a cellular level. I've just ordered a kit from vitamindtest.org.uk and have bought them before as my local nhs trust does not test vit D.

Hi - funny you should say that ! - a Vit D deficiency was what started me off on this "research" and eventually, through a serendipituous route, led me to this site this w/e !

I have been on Levothytoxine 150mc for years and years without thinking anything about it. Never had any subsequent blood tests just repeat prescriptions.

A year ago my Dr. left and a new one came who was incredibly proactive and requested a whole bank of blood tests and subsequently diagnosed Borderline Type 2 diabetes & 3mthly blood tests were started which included thyroid, cholesterol & HbA1c plus a few others thrown in for good measure by her including the one for Vit D !

I am controlling the diabetes by low carbing and also by managing to lose some weight despite being disabled housebound and totally wheelchair dependent (but with Attitude !) & unable to exercise & the Dr was really surprised & pleased with my decreasing HbA1c results & was really curious about whatever I was doing to achieve it.

I showed her the App I was using and the book and she borrowed the book and spoke with the surgery diabetic nurse & subsequently introduced the book & App to the surgery to be shown to all newly diagnosed diabetics & those wanting to lose weight. She was an amazing Dr. and fully engaged me in explaining the whole raft of blood test results/symptoms/conditions etc & anything I wanted to know.

Sadly that Dr. had to leave at Christmas for family reasons and having begun such an excellent open discussive partnership with her I had a lot of questions that I subsequently wanted to ask her including re Thyroxine Vit D etc etc but sadly before I could do so she left.

After she left I asked for a copy of the subsequent 3mthly.blood test results as my curiosity had been aroused !

Thus I am now "on my own" on a mission to find out as much as I can for myself about exactly what "the numbers" mean and what I can find out about the medications I am taking, possible interactions and interrelations between different "conditions/symptoms" and it's absolutely fascinating ! Being housebound the Internet is my door to discovery to a sites like this one where real people experiencing the various symptoms/conditions/meds/tests etc post about their actual experiences and findings . . . BRILLIANT !

Reading through different posts on this site has already sent me off in a number of directions as "links" have "clicked" such as the Vit D connection to diabetes and now a Vit D and Thyroxine connection that you mention and my current curiosity re Vit B12 and I have been so encouraged by the responses to my question . . .

Thank you thank you

Perhaps you also need an increase in the levo?

I read lots of books a couple of years ago. Two that where really helpful were

'The Thyriod Solution' by Ridha Arem

and 'The Healthy Thyriod' by Patsy Westcott.

I ordered them at my local library amongst a whole heap of other thyroid books!

Uh oh ! . . . I seem to have developed a new "condition !" . . . "Researchitus Grandiflorus" . . . !

It's absolutely fascinating (& slightly alarming !) what I am discovering - especially the significance of the interrelation between thyroid/Thyroxine & Type 2 diabetes & Vit D3 which I have been put on a very high dosage of for 3mths.

Taking a v high dose of Vit D3, I have learned from the Vit D Council site, should definitely be supported by taking Magnesium & also VitK. It appears that that "fact" isn't generally made known (it wasn't to me) when a v high dose of Vit D is medically prescribed however & that's what aroused my curiosity about the other prescribed medications I'm taking & now I'm curious as to just what else I am going to learn . . . !

Somehow amongst all I've been reading about B12 came into the equation which led me to this forum & to ask my question.

I am also on Simvastatin 20mg so that is thrown into the mixing pot too !

Thank you for the titles of the 2 books ! They indeed will no doubt very specifically feed my awakened curiosity ! I will ask the lady who brings me Home Library books once a month to please try to source them for me.

Thank you again for your reply & supportive suggestions - much valued & appreciated :-)
