Can someone please give me some advice on my latest thyroid blood results

I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on whats going on with my most recent blood results. Have tried to bring my appointment with my endo forward but they don't have any available before my appointment at the end of August.

I went back to the doctor as I have still been experiencing all of my under active symptoms but have started experiencing over active symptoms as well. I have started to get really bad palpitations and a weird shaking feeling inside my body.

My most recent bloods showed

TSH <0.03 (ref 0.4-4.5)

T4 17.4 (ref 9-24)

T3 4.6 (ref 3.5-6.5)

I have reduced my levothyroxine to 100 mcgs from 125mcgs. I just really wanted some advice as to whether this is the right thing to do. I have no faith in my GP (she even had to ask me what T3 was as she had not heard of it and didn't know why they tested it!)

If I reduce my meds is this just going to make my hypo symptoms even worse?

I think that the "hyper" symptoms that you are experiencing could actually be "hypo" symptoms, as I get palpitations when under-medicated as well as over-medicated. Your Ft3 looks rather low in the range to me, although your TSH is suppressed. I had similar results on thyroxine, but feel so much better with the addition of some T3 (in my case in the form of Armour thyroid).

It is probably a good idea to try reducing your dose first though, to rule out over-medication. If this doesn't help, then that would add more weight to you asking for some T3, if that is what you want to do.

My recent TSH was 0.09 T3 4.8 and I was suffering badly with "hypo" symptoms but they were actually "hyper" symptoms. My endo reduced me from 112.5 to 100 a week ago and all the symptoms have gone.

It's not easy deciding which symptoms are which but you may well find like me that you are much better on a lower dose.
