how severe is it? have you measured your blood sugars on a regular basis to learn what makes you go high and low?

I know I react to carbohydrates amounts higher than 20grams in one meal, so I keep within this limit and I react to sugars in any form and any amount.

My blood sugars go as high as 15 and as low 2 if I am not careful how I eat.

high protein is what I must concentrate on and any carbs I eat are never ever pure on their own, always with protein combined.

the key is to prevent you going hypo or hyper to begin with, not how to rescue it, how to rescue it is 'easy' I picked myself up with a can of coke when my blood sugar went to 2mmol/L sorted me out within 20 minutes it did, however I had to eat some more longer sustain food too just after the coke or I would have had another crash, so that day I happened to eat also some salmon after the coke.

salmon was my protein choice as I do not avoid fish, you take your pick, but ideally protein is best.

I find I need to eat protein and very few sugars or carbs - otherwise I get hypoglycaemia.

I am healthiest at around 20g starchy or sugary carbs per day - and can eat unlimited "healthy" carbs like brocolli, green beans - any green leafy veg.

Two simple ways are...

1. Avoid anything beige (excepting porridge, fish, turkey, chicken)

2. Atkins - but with as much green leafy veg or salad as you can manage.

i need to eat every 2 hours or i feel very ill. I've had this for years but it's much worse now. I'm certain it's adrenal fatigue

What do you eat, and when?

Hi Treatment is usually eat a snack every 2 hours, not sugar. Also annual tests for Diabetes as can herald start of it, although takes ages to develop.Sugar/ glucose just gives you a short high but does not really work and of course, harmful in the scheme of things.

Best wishes,

Jackie

Are you diabetic, or like me, pre-diabetic?

I got ZERO help from an Endocrinologist who acted like I was the first person ever to have suffered the problem!

I was suffering reactive Hypoglycaemia, and have controlled it for over 3.5 years now 100% by eating a low carb diet. (Low Glycaemic Load, fairly strictly applied, especially at first)

Eating carbs used to stop the hypo certainly, but it would roller coast up and down constantly all day. Not eating those carbs meant I never went "up" and consequently never came "down" either!

Hypos can be a sign of adrenal fatigue too.

I have no idea if i'm pre diabetic but have had hypoG for years - its alot worse in last couple of years.

I also have adrenal fatigue

Like i said, i eat every few hours but it's difficult as i work and i'm a vegetarian coeliac.

For my 'inbetween' and on the move' meals i'm v limited. Fruit, Mrs Criimbles corn crackers, nuts, g free oat cakes

My main leans are fruit, veg, organic yoghurt, g free oats, brown rice, potatoes. Had to give up most beans due to gluten contamination
