I've had another blood test to check my thyroid function following removal of the right lobe of my thyroid that found follicular variant papillary thyroid cancer.
My TSH was 2.1, within the range now. It was 6.0 but I now take 75mcg Levothyroxine.
Thyroglobulin 6.3
They didn't do FT4 nor FT3.
I'm sure I need a higher dose of Levothyroxine because I believe my TSH needs to be far lower and practically hyperthyroid to prevent return of the cancer. I also still have hypothyroid symptoms and my endocrine surgeon seems to think that should not happen because I still have the left side of my thyroid. He has referred me to an endocrinologist because he can only give me T4.
Any advise is very much appreciated.
Thank you.

I've read the section but it seems to refer more to patients who have TT and RAI. I've only had the right lobe removed and no RAI because it hadn't metastasis outside the lobe. Although, there was a couple of sentences that did say it should be lower <1. I'll keep reading it over and over again until it twigs.
I cannot believe they would not measure your FT4 to see if half your gland is still producing enough. It's bad enough that they won't measure your FT3 to see if it is working well in the loop. I have to bang my head against a wall when hearing some of these stories. If at the least they would listen to people's symptoms, it might excuse the rest, but they don't even do that. Disgraceful.
I suspect that they did do the FT4 and FT3 but decided not to tell me. Previous blood tests have shown the reading for FT4 and FT3 and the slips I gave to the phlembotomists were exactly the same every time I went to have my blood drawn. Unfortunately, for them I have decided to get my full medical record and have competed an access to medical information form and requested a copy of the path report done on my removed thyroid lobe and full details of all my blood tests. They cannot pull the wool over my eyes that easily. I've already got copies of my old medical files from my local hospital to try and establish if I had thyroid problems many years ago and didn't get treated. I'm having to be my own private investigator to get to the bottom of things. Sherlock Holmes eat your heart out!
