Does anyone else have major mood swings?

I'm literally feeling like jekyll and hyde. Its kind of crept up on me i think, but I am really vicious with my husband at times. Very emotional and crying lots while blaming him for everything and threatening divorce regularly. My poor husband used to be such a placid man, but its taken a toll and he now retaliates so it descends into one big mess of tit for tat. I was diagnosed hypo a year ago and am still adjusting my medication. 7 weeks ago, i was reduced fom 175 levo to 100 levo and 10 T3. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I'm under medicated by how i physically feel, but i really need to know, is can it cause the emotional problems too?

It most certainly can, well it did for me anyway, turned into a monster and wonder now how hubby put up with it. My emotions seemed to be the first thing that were affected and I would fly off the handle at the slightest thing, even started doing this at work (which is not a good idea), other symptoms came along later probably because the thyroid was never properly dealt with in the first place. Having said that a friend of mine was little affected in that direction, so I guess its different for everyone.

Hi Jubileeuk! I had exactly the same thing happen to me. My husband also was usually a very placid man and really had problems with my unpredictable outbursts (I really think he thought I had gone mad!) . I also was constantly asking for a divorce (suppose I didn't understand you see what was going on, just knew I didn't like what was happening to me and wanted out of the situation I was in ie. mood swings, panick attacks etc - you know what I mean - and who else will put up with us other than those who love us the most). I was undiagnosed at the time and he thought I no longer loved him. He died of a massive heart attack next to me in bed in 2005, not knowing I had Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I never got a chance to say sorry. I didn't get diagnosed till a year afterwards. So sad. It really is a nasty condition. Perhaps I shouldn't have told you this, you probably don't need it, but I wrote it because I want you to know it's not you it is your hypo. When you are properly medicated you will have far more control over your emotional state.

All the best to you Jubileeuk...
