I have low, but not suppressed TSH levels. My free T3 and free T4 are at the low end of the range as well, and I still have hypo symptoms.
Can anyone cite research and/or medical studies or information indicating what the optimal levels of free T3 and free T4, irregardless of the TSH levels?
Thanks,
Mary

Optimal is what best suits you. TSH should be disregarded anyway, it's a useless test for hypo. Usually people feel best with both T4 and T3 up near the top of the range - or even slightly over for the T3. Mine certainly is. It's a very individual thing and I don't personally know of any research or studies on the subject.
But you could try Dr Toft. I think he has something to say on the subject.
Hi My Endo and I ave always had to go by T4 and FT3, as I have Hashimoto, very bad thyroid problems but my TSH, has always be immeasurable. Find a good Endo who treats on symptoms with consideration only to bloods.
My results were like this but with a bit of influence from dr tofts book my go agreed to increase thyroxine to try to get the t4 into the upper half of the range. My tsh was below range last time but he's still given me another inrease. Just awaiting the blood test results but I can honestly say I feel like me agin!
Good luck And don't give in, I tried a few GP's within the same practice.
