I don't think that they will all go ever!!!!

Synthetic T4 was invented and in use before any of the requirements came into place to have proper animal and human trials. Therefore, it has never had to demonstrate that it actually results in the the elimination of symptoms in patients over the long term.

Is it any wonder to any of us that it doesn't work in the way our own thyroid hormones used to work before they packed up???????

Christina I agree with you - thyroid problems are the cinderella of the medical world. Half the folk who are depressed or suffering from multi-disfunctions in their daily life probably have thyroid illness. It makes me so angry I could scream. That is, if I haven't lost my voice at the time!

I still have most of my original symptoms, and only because I found this site, do I realise I actually have more than those I went to the doc with initially,.

Go for it Christine.

I would also like to ask the health professionals how many of those people classified as obese in the UK today are recieving treatment for thyroid problems and how many others have levels just out side the treatment zone.

I now know that I had symptoms from my early twenties but didn't qualify for treatment until my mid forties. I am now struggling to lose a lot of weight whilst still feeling like I am doing every thing in lead boots. Granted they are not as heavy as they used to be. But because my levels are within the accepted range I can't have my dosage increased even though weight loss would reduce my blood pressure and improve my general health. Therefore less strain on me and the health service.

I have been on Levothyroxine since I was age 15. I noticed it wasnt working when I was 36 and started researching. Of course back then there was little on the internet compared to today. Im 48 now and dont know what to do. I find I have periods when I try to sort it out but my concentration is so bad I get sidetracked. Fed up and depressed. I hate GPs.

There was no space for "zero"- seriously I don't have any symptoms now - and I suspect most people who don't are not bothering to go on the internet to talk about it - so I dont think it can be representative. I did have some teething problems - joint pains, but changed dose and then OK. I am sorry that so many people are still suffering though

I ticked 16 or more but I think that my actual number of symptons and suffering is far higher than that.

I still have brain fog (hopefully it is nothing else !) Still debilitating, didn't have it until I started Levo. Apart from that I am starting to feel a lot better. I also sorted out my diet and my vitamins myself.
