Hello,

I have an update. My thyroid surgery will be next Thursday. I just got told today! I need pre op and covid test first. I have a large lump pushing on windpipe but also they need to check if cancerous too. I have hashimotos thyroiditis officially diagnosed. And I have been prescribed levothyroxine even though my TSH is not at 10. My GP listened to the private endocrinologist and the NHS surgeon who both advised due to my TSH being above 2 and with the lump and hashimotos that I need levothyroxine. Thank you group, I would not know about any of this if you hadn't educated me and advised that symptoms mean something! Even if the NHS drs are telling you ur fine. If I had listened to them I would have my first endocrinologist appointment in a year! And it wasn't even for thyroid issues. My previous GP would not consider tnyroid and said only a quack would prescribe levothyroxine for hashimotos. I am frightened but at least I know what is wrong and i am believed. I havent really even thought about the fact that I could still have cancer. I keep just concentrating on trying to up meds and find out when the op actually was.

Good luck for Thursday. Did you check vitamin D levels? There is some research to say that good vitamin D levels help recovery.

Sorry to hear that your doctor was so unsympathetic. I hope you get the care you need now and I hope the lump turns out to be benign.

Hello. Thank you :) Yes i have normal vitamin D now and I'm still taking vitamins. I've started levo too but I wish they had started it earlier x

I only saw one set of results on previous posts and thyroid tests were in range and TSH OK. Maybe you had other results? Anyway, going by those results I don't think taking levothyroxine earlier would have made any difference. Your low vitamin D is likely to have caused problems though. Good that you're now supplementing D3.

Low T4 now and TSH is about 5 now. Also very high thyroid antibodys. I have been told by endocrinologist that taking it now should help with my symptoms which I'm hoping is true.

Sounds like you've started levothyroxine at the right time.

Thats good. Also if half out or more might need more. I just hope it helps even if its just a little bit

I expect your need will change after surgery but you'll have to wait and see.
