Diverticulitis diet stages

I've read that a liquid diet should be followed when there's a flare up.

Should you wait til pain has gone before moving on to soft diet?

When should you resume fibre diet?

The general guidance which was used to be given was to adopt a light diet until the infective episode settled down with antibiotics. The patient usually feels unwell with pain, and in any event, the gastro-colic reflex could well be accentuated. Re-introduction of the fibre diet can be delayed until symptoms have settled down. With the advent of Google, there are many sources of information which can be tapped, the Mayo Clinic being one source of advice which is very helpful, or NHS guidance.
