A bit of good news !!

I have suffered with ibs for over 30 years, and have generally tried to manage by eating a very plain diet, and trying not to get too stressed 😅 but as I have got older it has got worse and so I have been doing a bit of research online and discovered Provitalise it is mainly advertised as a menopausal aid for women, and is not cheap and comes from America I think. But I was so desperate last year that I tried it, and as it says it takes about 3 months before you really notice a difference. But I took it most of last year and felt so much better with my stomach and bloating and sleeping less restless too, but me being me I thought I'm fine now don't need these pills, so came off them last Nov, and slowly since then all my symptoms have come back and I've had the worst ibs I've ever had, so I'm back on them again, after about 5 months without, and already starting to feel better, the trouble is it is gradual, and you don't notice until you look back how you were a few months ago, and realise how much has actually improved. I'm not on commission (I wish) !! And have been careful not to put too much information, and I've no idea if they will help anyone else, but they help me that's all I know, and I know how desperate it feels when you are so ill and do t know what else you can do.

I've just looked up the ingredients to the Provitalize, which are:

openhealthtools.org/provita...

Probiotic Blend – 68.2 Billion CFU

Bifidobacterium breve

Lactobacillus gasseri

Bifidobacterium lactis

Turmeric Root Extract – 350mg

Moringa Leaf -350mg

Curry Leaf – 150mg

Lecithin (from Sunflower) – 50mg

Black Pepper Fruit Extract (BioPerine) – 3mg

It contains probiotics including Bifidobacterium. It is more likely that the probiotics that are helping your IBS.

Good that you have found something that helps you.

Yes it is definitely the probiotic, but not just that it also helps with other symptoms, and I've tried other probiotics that have not helped at all, so I don't think they all work the same way

Bifidobacterium is a particularly strong strain, which is passed from mother to baby during a natural birth to prime the baby's gut defences. Bifidobacterium infantis 35624 is the strain contained in Alflorex, which has been scientifically studied and shown to help IBS patients (especially related to a gut bacterial imbalance). So, yes - not all probiotics are the same. I've tried many over the years and Alflorex worked best for me. You are probably benefiting from the Bifidobacterium too.

It's a probiotic rather than medication.

It is available here:

amazon.co.uk/Alflorex-Calci...

and directly from their own website:

Hi Bishbashbosh23, thank you for your post, I found it interesting. May I ask if you tend to have IBS-D or C

This seems interesting. I have to be careful of ingredients (e.g. turmeric) as I am on a blood thinner and there are often contra indications with my particular tablet.

Hi

I think you've felt better because it is for the menopause and anything taken for menopause has stuff in to relax us, believe me, I had all sorts when I was going through it and that's when my IBS started, 15 years ago. Anxiety gets worse, even if your no t anxious normally. I always was, but I went worse. So, it's treating your symptoms as if your menopausal, dies this ake any sense do you 🤔?

Glad your feeling better now matter what it's for 😁
