Bad morning

4months since my last post so I suppose around that time since my last bad morning..

woken up just now from lower back pain, very sweaty, nausea lower tummy cramps. Used the toilet I managed to go but constipated. Went down for a drink, still nauseous - bit shaky and very clammy hands and face. Ran back up to the loo and suddenly had D

Is this a bad Ibs flare up and I’ve just forgotten how it feels? :( help! - crazy how typing on here and hearing peoples comments is just such a calm to the anxiety.

Oh Babyel, that sounds like a horrible morning! The cramps, the lower backache, the D and C alternating suddenly like that sound pretty typical for IBS. Feeling nauseous and clammy and anxious can also happen. Just before a flare hits I usually get very hot and feel strange, like claustrophobic or something, then after the loo I get cold and shivery. But I never have any fever when this happens.

It might just be a bad IBS day, but if you feel worse pain etc, call the doctor or something.

Sometimes the vagus nerve gets involved with one of these attacks, and it can cause all sorts of weird symptoms like dizziness, feeling sick, faint, heart speeding up etc. That only happened to me once but it wasn't very nice. Maybe you are feeling better now? I hope so. Eat light, and no trigger foods today.

Could still be partial constipation (faecal impaction in the lower right side of your ascending colon?) with overflow diarrhea (that's what I have on a daily basis) Try to flush/clean your intestines with gentle laxatives, drink plenty (with electrolytes) and if possible try not to eat for a day or so.

After some thinking I think it could also because of trapped gas / bubbles of gas produced by methane producing organisms in our small intestines. I think the gas interferes with the normal bowel movements, slow our bowel transit and also causes dysbiosis. I think this is called IMO, intestinal methane overgrowth. Unfortunately I couldn't be tested for methane but hydrogen was negative in my case. There are some natural antimicrobials you could try. One of them is cinnamomum verum and perhaps berberine could also help. Besides these I think there are some other natural products, antimicrobials that could help, oregano and maybe allicin. But we do need to know what is causing this methane overgrowth, the underlying cause of this dysbiosis in our intestines. I had all the proper bowel examinations and the conclusion was that there is nothing wrong with the structure of my intestines. Now I'm waiting for an appointment so I can be tested for atypical cystic fibrosis.
